Most Popular Fight Songs

One of the most exciting moments in college is when you first hear the school fight song at the first football or basketball game. It might even be at the school’s pep rally, in which, the band plays and cheerleaders cheer to encourage the team. No matter where the event was you will always recognize that song. I’m sure the schools that we will talk about feel the same way and you might even know the song and not know the school.

Let’s start with Pennsylvania State University also known as Penn State. Penn State has been a top institution for years. This institution has a rich history and tradition mainly due to the legendary football program and coach Joe Paterno. I can truly say that this school not only has a following of hundreds of thousand but a following of those who have no ties with the school. Joe Sanunders composed “Fight On, State” in 1915 specifically to be played after a touchdown. It is played through its entirety, then slows down, stops and resumes once the extra point is kicked. In 1968 a shorter version of the song was written known as “New Fight On, State” and is played without the slow-down part and pause. Continue reading

How to Make a Greek Paddle

1) First you’ll need to find out the requirements your fraternity or sorority has for paddles made. Some organizations mandate that certain information be included on your paddle, such as your pledge class, big brother or big sister’s name, your school’s chapter, or emblem. They may also mandate the size of your paddles.

2) Once you determine the requirements for paddles, you’ll want to determine what you want to place on your paddle and how you want to arrange it. How many letters will you need? How much space will you actually have? It helps to draw out a sketch on paper, so you have an idea of how you’d like wooden symbols and other designs placed.

3) When doing the sketch, try to draw it according to scale and use precise measurements. You don’t have to draw it exact to size, but keep the ratio even for everything, noting the size of all letters, etc. Continue reading

Different Kinds of Degrees

Whether you are going back to college or just starting your first year at a university, knowing the different kinds of degrees and their functions will be valuable during your time as a college student. If you are a first-time college student, you may be confused about the difference between associate, bachelor, master or doctorate. When you first arrive at college, the main two degrees that concern you are associate and bachelor. If you are returning after earning your bachelor’s degree, your next step is to obtain your master’s degree, and after that, your doctorate.

College freshmen have the option of completing an associate degree at a 2-year college, like your city’s local community college, and then either transferring to a 4-year college to earn their bachelor’s degree, or simply using their associate’s degree to find a job that suits their degree. Freshmen can also go directly to a 4-year university straight out of high school instead, and earning their bachelor’s degree at once. Associate degrees tend to be less specialized and allow students to enter the workforce quickly, but do not expect to have many advancement opportunities without a bachelor’s degree. Because associate degrees are less specific than bachelor’s, it is obvious that most college goers would choose to, at least eventually, earn their bachelor degree.

How to Become a Paralegal – Advice and Requirements to Become a PA

There are a number of occupations which are highly sought after in today’s economy. Among those occupations is that of paralegal, which was named as the most desirable (and underrated) of jobs in 2011 by CareerCast(R). In the United States, unemployment rose to over 9% in July of 2011, while unemployment among paralegals was only 4.6%.

There are only a few states which regulate the amount of education a paralegal must have. Potential employers are much more exacting than the states, and expect specialized training for anyone being considered for a paralegal position. Before you enroll in any paralegal certificate or degree program, make sure you have a good idea as to the educational requirements prospective employers have in your area. Find out if they’ll accept an eight month paralegal certificate from an online institute, if they require a two year Associates degree from an accredited school, or if they want you to obtain an American Bar Association approved four year Bachelors degree. You don’t want to graduate with a certificate that no one will accept, nor do you want to spend four years (and a lot of money) on a Bachelors degree that over qualifies you for your local job market. Stated differently, you’re letting the tail wag the dog if you graduate, and only then look around to find out who will accept your certificate or degree. Continue reading

In fact they went to bat for the students for voicing their concerns, and participating in what they believe to be democracy of the people – and yet, when the students decided to protest college tuition costs out here in California which are going up 8% per year for the next three years, about a similar growth rate to China’s GDP, or our healthcare costs in this country, then students immediately got arrested.
